Pune: CCTV footage has surfaced, raising suspicions that the attack on Devendra Jog, an employee at Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol’s office, was not just a road rage incident. According to officials, gangster Gaja Marne was present nearby when Jog was assaulted. It has been alleged in court that Marne was giving direct instructions to his men, saying, “He’s arrogant, beat him up.”
Crucial evidence related to the case has now been submitted to the court, leading to Gaja Marne being remanded in police custody until March 3. The investigation has been transferred to the Crime Branch.
The incident took place on February 19, during Shiv Jayanti celebrations in the Bhelkenagar area of Kothrud, Pune. Members of Gaja Marne’s gang allegedly attacked Devendra Jog, who manages social media work at Minister Mohol’s office. Taking serious note of the assault, police have booked Gaja Marne and his associates Rupesh Marne, Om Dharmajijñāsu, Kiran Padwal, Amol Tapkir, and Shrikant Pawar under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). While most of the accused have been arrested, Rupesh Marne and Shrikant Pawar remain absconding.
Notably, the attackers were recently out on bail in another case. The police are continuing their search for the remaining accused.
